This shocking post by local ex-conservative councillor Chris Howell reveals for the first time that the majority of the duplicate responses submitted during the consultation on Mill Road bridge were strongly opposed to the bridge staying closed.
Paul Lythgoe, chair of Mill Road for People says:
This analysis confirms what we have suspected all along, since all the research we have done shows clear support for the bus gate. It is utterly disgraceful that democracy was compromised in this way and Cambridgeshire County Council have some serious questions to answer here. Why did they not do this analysis themselves? Why are their consultation procedures not more robust? And how can we be sure that residents will be able to trust the outcome of the next consultation process?’
